The International Services of Oulu University of Applied Sciences provides Finnish survival Courses for incoming exchange students and trainees.
The course will consist of basics of Finnish language and culture. See the course description in the ECTS Information Package.
Course dates
In the autum term 2014 there will be three (3) courses. Contents of all of them will be the same. The courses will start from the very basics and therefore earlier Finnish skills are not needed for participation.
Autumn term 2014
Course A: 2.9. – 14.10.2014 on the following dates at 16:30 – 19:00: Tue 2.9., Thu 4.9., Mon 8.9., Wed 10.9., Tue 16.9., Thu 18.9., Tue 23.9., Thu 25.9., Tue 30.9., Thu 2.10., Tue 7.10. and Tue 14.10.2014.
Course B: 22.9. – 19.11.2014 on the following dates at 16:30 – 19:00: Mon 22.9., Wed 24.9., Mon 29.9., Wed 1.10., Mon 6.10., Wed 8.10., Mon 13.10., Wed 15.10., Mon 3.11., Wed 5.11., Mon 10.11. and Wed 19.11.2014. Notice that there won't be contact teaching on weeks #43 and #44 (20.10 - 31.10.2014).
Course C: 4.11. - 9.12.2014 on the following dates at 16:30 – 19:00: Tue 4.11., Thu 6.11., Tue 11.11., Thu 13.11., Mon 17.11., Tue 18.11., Thu 20.11., Tue 25.11., Thu 27.11., Tue 2.12., Thu 4.12. and Tue 9.12.2014.

The courses will be held in the premises of the School of Engineering, Kotkantie 1, FI-90250 Oulu (Kaukovainio). Contents of all the courses are the same.
In addition to these courses the School of Business and Information Management arranges the following courses: Basic Finnish Language and Culture I, Basic Finnish Language and Culture II and Basic Finnish Language III and the School of Engineering (Oulu Campus) Finnish Language and Culture I, Finnish Language and Culture II and Finnish Language and Culture III for their own international students as daytime teaching.
Registrations
There is a maximum of 30 student places on each course. Places will be filled in the order of registration. If the course of your primary choice is already fully booked, please register for another one. Priority is given to Erasmus students and trainees.
Registrations should be completed through an online form.
Notice! A sole mention of the Finnish Survival Course in your Learning Agreement is not sufficient for participation, you will also have to register online in order to be accepted for the course!
